Kathryn Goggin

Kathryn "Kay" was born April 14, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA. to Leo Kiley and Elizabeth (nee Rowland). She passed peacefully surrounded by her family. Kay was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jack; her parents Leo and Elizabeth; and her two sisters Lois and Mary. She is survived by her sisters Anna and Barbara; brothers Billy and Michael Kiley; daughter Mary (Tim) of Springfield, PA; son Mike (Johnna) of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren - Kim, Ally, Ryan, Katie and Mikey; four great grandchildren - Zoe, Nora, Kinsley and Jack. Kay graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic High School for Girls the class of 1959. After graduation, she worked for Bell Telephone before she settling down to marriage. She was a stay at home Mom who centered her life around her husband and family. She was a great cleaner and organizer. It was often a joke that you could eat off of her floors. Kay was faithful. She raised her children Catholic and went to church religiously, She often prayed and talked to God and the angels about her happy and sad moments. She started each day with a prayer. Kay loved to go shopping and find the best sales. She loved chips, pretzels, Hershey Kisses, Mary's homemade rice pudding, and a glass of White Zinfandel with ice. Kay loved to garden. She especially loved red Roses and Zinnias. She said gardening was cleansing for the soul. She was known for hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas, a tradition passed down by Kay's mother to her children. She had an amazing talent for holiday decorating. Her house was always warm and welcoming. Kay was a good cook, and to this day no one makes a butter cookie the way she did. She was always the best gift giver. Her love and care even showed in the wrapping and presentation of the gift and card. Kay loved music, especially Barry Manilow who, she told us, had a song for every feeling. She laughed and cried to his songs so much that her children can word for word sing most of them. She also helped the homeless once a month with a dessert that was hand packed with love. She enjoyed going out to eat, especially after years of cooking for everyone else. Her favorite movie was "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles", which made her laugh so hard that her laughing was funnier than the movie itself. She liked to dance, especially with her husband, Jack, making them the perfect dance couple on the dance floor. Kay lived a good life surrounded by a family who loved her and although we are very sad for our loss, we know that she would not want us to be sad. She is in a better place and hopefully tending to God's garden and singing in His heavenly choir.
