Jean H. Lembach

Jean was born October 17, 1932 to Jean and Raymond Hepburn in Philadelphia, Pa. Jean is the beloved wife to the late Philip; much loved mother of Megan Lembach (Gordon Berry), Allison Coll (David), Guy (Suzanne) and the late Suzanne Edwards; grandmother of Alaina McAuliffe, Alexandra Kim (Moses), Duncan and Graham Berry; sadly missed sister of R. Gerald Hepburn (Mary Jo) of Alexandria, VA., sister of the late MaryAnn (Lovey) and Leo Webb of Weeki Wachee, Fl. Many people will say that they had the ‘best’ mother and we are sure their mothers are wonderful, but WE had the best mother. She received her undergraduate and masters degree in education from Temple University. She still kept in touch with friends from all of these schools. She taught for many years in the Philadelphia Public School system and then moved to Drexel University, where she ended her career as Assistant Athletic Director. She especially enjoyed cheering on the Drexel women’s basketball team. many Drexel athletes benefited from Jean’s gentle suggestion and keen editing of their papers. Jean was an avid sports fan and loved college and professional . Jean was a lifelong reader and at one point had read all of the mysteries at the Cheltenham Township Library ( this may be an exaggeration, but we stand it). Jean also believed in helping others through organizations including: Mercy Alumnae, Alpha Delta Kappa (education sorority), driving people to their doctors appointments and supporting St. Joseph’s Church in Cheltenham. We will miss her every day, but we are sure she is sitting on an OceanCity, NJ beach with her sister and my father (who is hiding under an umbrella), reading a book, listening to the Phillies on the radio, drinking a Diet Pepsi, and eating orange slices candy.
